Winter Art Gallery & Kid's Art Contest featuring Walter Soza with Art Reception Unveiling

Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts (LCFA) celebrated a one-year anniversary on January 26 th, 2017 by kicking off their winter/spring art gallery and kid’s art competition. Event images. The Gaston Avenue studios unveiled the works of local artist Walter Soza during their kick-off reception. Soza was present to discuss his vast collection of pieces which spotlight Dallas, Fort Worth landmarks including many beloved East Dallas sites. During the evening Soza unveiled his oil rendition of the Lakewood Theater. Guests enjoyed a first look at this one and only rendition of the iconic property.

The kick-off occasion offered an art activity room where kids created their competition creations. The occasion also offered live musical performances by LCFA and PCSOM student musicians and pianist and LCFA co-founder Eva Brandys who released her first CD in fall of 2016.

All are invited to stop by during open hours to view the Soza art gallery which runs through the end of May 2017.

Additionally, kids ages 3-14 are encouraged to reproduce Walter Soza’s ‘Lakewood Theater’ (pictured above). Participants are encouraged to present free interpretation reproductions. Completed reproductions can be submitted to Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts through March 31st, during open hours. Submitted artwork will be on display at the conservatory through May 1st, 2017.

Soza’s Lakewood Theater will be on display in the front window of Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts through May 31st. Competition participants can view or study the ‘Lakewood Theater’ piece for their reproduction efforts anytime during opening hours of LCFA and via the LCFA website.

Two winners will be announced in each age category. Walter Soza will judge the best reproduction. A facebook campaign beginning April 3rd and ending April 31st will reveal a popular vote. Winners will receive a copy of Walter Soza’s ‘Lakewood Theater’, a collection of professional art supplies and LCFA co-founder Eva Brandys’ CD of original piano compositions. Winners will also have their work displayed in the LCFA art gallery. There is no fee to compete.

In addition to their art, music and dance curriculum they offer artists of many genres and ages the opportunity to showcase their work. The white walls of their Lakewood conservatory make an apropos backdrop to spotlight the artwork of local artist Walter in which they hope to further his success. Furthermore, through the winter art competition LCFA hopes to spark and reward the artistic interest of those in their early development years.****
